Skeptics say hydrogen implementation is 5 years away. This week, it boarded a train in India, fed a farm in America, and pulled into a truck stop in California. Hi, I'm Steve Hill, CEO of NewHydrogen with this week's top hydrogen news. First, a NewHydrogen update. At NewHydrogen, our mission is simple: produce the world's cheapest clean hydrogen. We're pursuing that through our patent-pending Thermal ThermoLoop technology, which uses heat and water instead of expensive electricity to split hydrogen.

Electricity is the single biggest cost driver in clean hydrogen production today, and Thermal Loop is designed to bypass it. For that to work, we need a reliable, carbon-free, high-temperature heat source available around the clock. That's what led us to nuclear energy, and specifically to a strategic collaboration with NuScale Energy, an advanced nuclear technology company developing the NuScale compact solid-state fission reactor platform. Their reactor can produce high-temperature heat and uniquely serves both the electrical power and industrial heat markets.

We're collaborating to evaluate how integrating NuScale heat with Thermal Loop can dramatically lower the cost of clean hydrogen production. As the global field of advanced nuclear developers grows, we expect our collaborations to grow with it. Next, the world's most populous country just entered the hydrogen rail era. Indian Railways has approved pilot operations for its first indigenous hydrogen fuel cell train, a 10-coach broad-gauge train set with 2,400 kW of propulsion capacity, set to run on a 90-km corridor in India.

Hydrogen facilities are already operational, and the train set has completed manufacturing and safety certification, with pilot operations expected in the second half of this year, 2026. India has 1.4 billion people, one of the world's largest rail networks, and a long dependence on diesel on non-electrified routes. This is a signal that one of the world's largest rail operators sees hydrogen as the practical path where overhead electrification isn't cost-effective. If the pilot succeeds, the door to trunk routes serving major cities opens quickly.

Next, hydrogen is doing something most people would never think about. It helps feed the world. Siemens and Shougang have announced a collaboration to build new United States production facilities for Nitro Leaf, a zero-carbon green ammonia fertilizer, at a time when global supply chains are under pressure and farmer input costs are rising sharply. Here's why that matters. Roughly 50% of the world's population depends on food grown with synthetic fertilizers.

Making fertilizer requires ammonia. Making ammonia requires hydrogen. Today, almost all of it comes from fossil fuels. Projects like this replace that with clean hydrogen, cutting agriculture's carbon footprint at a scale that directly affects food security. Hydrogen isn't just an energy story. It's woven into the basic infrastructure of how the world eats.

Finally, hydrogen trucking in America just got the most credible commercial signal yet. Hyundai Translead is shipping up to 100 XCIENT Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell tractors to the United States, making Hyundai currently one of the only suppliers of Class 8 hydrogen trucks in North America.

Rivals, including Kenworth and Peterbilt, have faced delays and production setbacks, leaving Hyundai in a wide-open commercial field. The XCIENT trucks are produced in South Korea and will be distributed through Hyundai's dealer network as the company builds out infrastructure support ahead of broader growth after 2027. Class 8 trucks cover long distances and can't afford hours of charging downtime. Hydrogen's fast refueling and range make it a natural fit.

Hyundai shipping real trucks to real customers while competitors are still calibrating puts them in a strong early position. From a nuclear-heated hydrogen process to a train in India to American farms and freight lanes, hydrogen is embedding itself in the infrastructure of everyday life. All of it gets more viable the moment clean hydrogen becomes truly affordable.
